Tapas
Small savoury dishes served in Spanish bars, usually with a drink.
Also: tapa, pintxos
A tapa is a small portion of food eaten with a glass of wine, beer or sherry. It can be as simple as olives or a slice of cured ham, or a cooked dish such as fried potatoes with spicy sauce, garlic prawns or potato omelette. People often move from bar to bar, having one or two at each. In the Basque Country similar snacks, often set on bread and held by a stick, are called pintxos.
