Bhog
Food offered to a deity in Hindu worship, and the meal later served from it to devotees.
Also: bhoga
Bhog is the food prepared for a deity, and the word is used most in northern and eastern India. After it has been offered, it is given to worshippers as a meal. In Bengal, the bhog served during Durga Puja is typically khichuri, a mixed vegetable dish, fried vegetables, chutney and a sweet rice pudding. At the Jagannath Temple in Puri, a very large kitchen cooks the offering each day in clay pots.
