Street food
Ready-to-eat food and drink sold by vendors in streets, markets and other public places.
Also: hawker food
Street food is cooked and sold from carts, stalls, kiosks and small shopfronts, and is usually eaten on the spot or on the move. It tends to be cheap, quick and tied to one place. Many vendors make only one or two things and make them very well. Chaat in India, tacos in Mexico, satay in Indonesia and jianbing in China are all street foods. In Singapore and Malaysia vendors are gathered in hawker centres.
