Zabiha
The method of slaughter that Islamic law requires for meat to be halal.
Also: dhabiha, dhabihah
Zabiha, or dhabiha, is the prescribed way of slaughtering an animal in Islam. The animal must be of a permitted kind and alive at the time. The slaughterer invokes the name of God and cuts the throat swiftly with a sharp knife, severing the windpipe and the main blood vessels. The blood is then left to drain out. Shops and restaurants use the word to show that their meat was slaughtered by this method.
